Who we are

Why we set up in the UK

The Grameen Scotland Foundation (trading as Grameen in the UK) has been created to focus on poverty alleviation and education across the UK, through the introduction and support of micro credit programmes following the principles developed by Professor Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen organisation.

Where we came from

The Grameen model of micro credit, developed 35 years ago by Nobel Peace Prize winner Professor Muhammad Yunus, began with a loan of $27 to 42 poor villagers in Bangladesh.
